I’ll start with 25+ years in banking wearing department store suits and sport coats of various brands from $60 to $400 for my most expensive wool suit from the Men’s WH. I’ve never worn a custom tailored piece, or “bespoke” as it’s known in the fashion industry, but this has to be as close to it as you can get for this price. The pick stitching around the lapel and pocket flaps, the soft, rich patterned wool/spandex fabric, the interior pocket detailing, including a hidden zippered vertical pocket on the left side, and zippered pocket on the right side, and the detail that impressed me the most: a working sleeve button hole on each sleeve, that traditionally is left unbuttoned to alert those around you that you’re wearing an expensive jacket. Not sure I’ll do that, but it’s nice the option is there for those that like that. Not all sleeve buttons open, only the last one on each sleeve, but none of the dozens of department store suits and jackets I’ve worn over the years have had that. There’s also a hidden button hole behind the left lapel and a fabric loop on the inside above the left interior pocket to pass through a headphone cable from a phone stored in the pocket for those that like listening to music while strolling along wearing this jacket. Cool!I’m sure that those who shop the expensive boutiques are laughing at my statements, but for the average working class that doesn’t spend $1000+ on clothing, what Cole Haan has done here is pretty impressive.Construction, quality control, and fit and finish are impeccable.I bought this on a heavy price dip and unfortunately may not have the budget to spend again the usual $250-$300 for another color, but if you can afford it at that price, it is well worth it. If you see it discounted, don’t hesitate. If you’re used to classic or regular fit jackets, this is slim fit, so go up one size and you should be OK.Being the most luxurious looking jacket I own now means the bar has been set very high for every future jacket to come. Now I’m just waiting for another large price dip on another color; come on Amazon, don’t let me down. One complaint, and this is not against Cole Haan, but against Amazon’s packing and shipping department, the Cole Haan-branded hanger arrived broken, a crime to now hang this work of art on a generic hanger :(
